BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Several people gathered at Representative Kevin McCarthy's office Tuesday to demand that he vote to end the government shutdown by dropping the GOP's provisions from the continuing resolution and vote to raise the debt limit.
The residents, members of an organization called MoveOn carried signs and delivered a petition of signatures to Rep. McCarthy.
"The government shutdown is depriving Americans of access to vital services, forcing hundreds of thousands of public servants to go without pay, and striking a big blow to our economic recovery," the local organizer of the event, Guy Wojtanowski, said.
