BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The shooting at Sandy Hook has prompted school districts nationwide to take a closer look at their security measures, including Bakersfield.

Four classrooms, a busy streets, and nothing in between to keep the bad guys out and the students in.

But last week's school shooting in Connecticut is prompting that to change here at Almondale Elementary and throughout the Rodesdale Union School District.

Over Christmas Break, the district is going to erect a fence between the exposed side of Almondale Elementary which runs adjacent to Verdugo Lane.

The district will also require all visitors and parents picking up kids to go through the school office to limit access and increase surveillance.

The district plans to have the fence up by the time students return from Christmas Break.
