Bakersfield woman could face up to 25 years in prison for counterfeiting, if convicted

Counterfeited four one-hundred dollar bills

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -

A Bakersfield woman was in federal court Monday with four charges of counterfeiting money and using it at a casino in Bakersfield and a cell phone store.

According to the indictment returned by a federal grand jury last week, 34-year-old Shannon Johannsen counterfeited four one-hundred dollar bills between October 2012 and March 2013.

Back in March, investigators searched her home and found digital images of one-hundred dollar bills and was arrested Monday at her home in Bakersfield. Johannsen also has a long track record of criminal activity that dates back to 2005 and was recently charged with burglary in February to which she pleaded no contest.

If convicted, she could face a maximum sentence of 25 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
