BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A local World War II veteran will finally receive the medals he earned after fighting for our freedom so long ago.

Congressman Kevin McCarthy will present the former Army Private, Herman Lippert, with a total of six medals.

Lippert was a combat engineer with the 97th infantry division and was stationed in France, Germany, and Austria.

He and his family moved back to Bakersfield in 1958 and Lippert has served as a minister at several local churches since then.
