Beekeepers worried about hives in Kern County due to drought

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Kern County beekeepers are worried about their hives.

The almond bloom is in full swing it is providing plenty of food for the bees right now.

But the almond bloom will only last about another 10 days then there will be a 3 week gap before citrus blooms start. With no food for the bees the keepers will have to give them man-made supplements to get by.

Normally wildflowers would keep the bees alive between blooming but the drought has prevented that.

Some Kern County beekeepers say this is the worst drought they have ever seen.
