Blood bank aims to raise money for new blood bank headquarters by test driving cars

301 people need to test drive to meet goal

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -

There is a different way to support Houchin Community Blood Bank besides giving blood.

On Saturday, Nov.10,  from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. the blood bank is trying to raise funds to complete the new headquarters by Driving Smart for a Cause.

Jim Burke Lincoln will support the new building campaign with $12,040 or more toward the new building fund if 301 people go to test drive one of 10 new Lincoln vehicles.

The drive takes about 5 minutes starting at the blood bank, 5901 Truxtun Avenue.

Sam's Club and Sparkletts are providing free refreshments during the drive, and Rotary Club members are engaged to help attract drivers.

Each licensed driver over 18 years of age, and representing a different household address, will count for the donation.

More information on the drive is available at www.hcbb.com or 661-616-2505.
