BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Blood donors can get a taste of the Kern County Fair and help those in need at the same time.
It's called the Pint for a Pass Blood Drive. Blood donors who stop by Houchin Blood Bank on Bolthouse Drive, south of White Lane will receive a free pass to Kern County Fair through September 11.
Donors will also be treated to some fair food favorites Monday, including Bakersfield DeMolay corn dogs (http://bit.ly/14W1T0F) and Boy Scouts baked potatoes with all the trimmings.
The food fair begins at 4 p.m. through 7 p.m., available while supplies last.
"The passes were wildly successful with donors last year, increasing blood supplies at a time when inventories are traditionally low" said Carola Enriquez, Director of Community Development.
The Bolthouse Donor Center is open Monday and Wednesday 11 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Tuesday and Thursday from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. It is closed Friday and Saturday.
The Truxtun Donor Center is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday 7 a.m. to 1 p.m.
Walk-ins are welcome, but appointments are available to make blood donations
