BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Friends of AIDS Project and Ricky's Retreat founder Audrey Chavez have organized a blood drive in her honor.
A friend called 23ABC on Tuesday and said Chavez is ill and has been hospitalized. They also say she is in need of four pints of A-Positive blood.
Her friends have organized the "Blood Drive for Audrey Chavez" at Houchin Blood Bank. It starts Tuesday at 9:00 a.m. and lasts until February 9th.
If you are A-Positive and qualify to be a donor, you are urged to go to Houchin Blood Bank and donate in her name. Organizers say if your blood does not match, you can still donate and she will be credited.
