On July 13, the Joint Vice Task Force that consists of detectives from the Bakersfield Police Department and the Kern County Sheriff's Office conducted an Internet Prostitution Sting at an area hotel.
During the course of the sting operation, officials said a total of two men and seven women were arrested and booked into the Kern County Jail for aiding in prostitution.
On August 1, the Bakersfield Police Department was notified by the Kern County Sheriff's Office that one of the women that had been booked was actually a 16-year-old juvenile.
It was later determined by officials that the 16-year-old girl was a runaway from San Bernardino County.
Through additional investigation, JVTF detectives discovered that one of the other women, 20-year-old Jessica Davidson of Holland, Texas had actually met the 16-year-old in San Bernardino County and had taken the girl under her guardianship and introduced her to prostitution.
Both traveled together to Bakersfield where they were then arrested.
Davidson was arrested for human trafficking and booked into the Kern County Jail. The 16-year-old is being held at the jail until she can be returned to San Bernardino County.
Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the Bakersfield Police Department at (661) 327-7111.
