Bakersfield Police said they've conducted at least two different stings outside alcohol stores looking for adults who buy alcohol for minors.

In a statement released Friday, officers said their most recent sting cited two people buying for minors. So far BPD has cited five different individuals for attempting to buy alcohol for minors.

Officers said during their stings they use "minor decoys" to wait near alcohol stores and ask customers to buy alcohol for them. The stings are an attempt to remind the public that it is illegal to buy alcohol for minors or make alcohol available for minors.

These enforcement operations are being funded through grants awarded by the Department of Alcoholic Beverage Control to specifically combat consumption of alcohol by minors.
