BPD investigating possible rape, robbery in southwest Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield Police are investigating a possible rape and robbery in southwest Bakersfield.

Officers responded to the 5400 block of Cherry Tree Lane in southwest Bakersfield at about 2:03 a.m. Saturday.

A teenage girl was walking near the 2400 block of Akers Road, officials said.

The suspect approached the victim and brandished a knife, demanding her cellular telephone, officials said.

The suspect then pulled the victim into the alley where he sexually assaulted her. The suspect fled in a light brown, older model SUV, driven by a different subject.
