BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield Police Department officers were called to the Valley Plaza mall for a possible kidnapping late Tuesday night.

According to witnesses, the suspected kidnapper grabbed a 21-year-old female as she exited the mall and threw her on the ground.

As she lay on the ground he reportedly punched her in the back of the head several times and then forced her into his car.  The witnesses added that the victim was screaming for help and yelling "let me go."

Witnesses were able to provide a license plate and description of the accused kidnapped, which led officers to the 3700 block of River Blvd where the victim and suspect were located in the car.

The suspect, identified as George Lopez Jr., 20 years old, is the estranged boyfriend of the victim and was arrested for kidnapping and spousal battery.
