BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Bakersfield police responded to Oak Street and Palm Street on Thursday, July 3, around 4 p.m. regarding a possible sexual assault.
A woman says she was walking near the intersection when she was grabbed from behind. Police say the woman was able to escape the alleged attacker.
Officer George Vasquez of the Bakersfield Police Department was conducting patrol in the area of Oak Street and Sunset Street Friday, July 4 and saw a man that looked similar to the previously released composite of the suspect.
Officer Vasquez took the man, 26-year-old Carlos Alfredo Delgado to the police station where the victim later positively identified him as the assailant.
Delgado was booked into Kern County Jail for assault with the intent to commit rape.
