BPD: Woman sexually assaulted near her garage in northwest Bakersfield Monday morning

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A woman was sexually assaulted near her garage Monday morning, officials from the Bakersfield Police Department said.

Police officers responded to northwest Bakersfield regarding a sexual assault at about 11:30 a.m. Monday, officials said. 

Officers contacted the victim at the 8700 block of Fox Run Drive who reported that she heard a noise in her garage, officials said.

The victim walked out to the garage, which had been locked, and encountered the suspect, officials said. 

The suspect grabbed the victim and a struggle ensued. The suspect sexually assaulted the victim, officials said.

The victim sustained moderate injuries and was transported to a local area hospital, officials said.

The suspect is described as a Hispanic man in his 30s, with a shaved head, dark Goatee with no mustache. He is 5-feet-10-inches and was wearing a dark shirt with sleeves to the elbows and dark shorts to the knees, officials said.

Suspect is said to have an unknown tattoo on the right side of his neck and both forearms, officials said.

The suspect's vehicle is a tan or silver colored four door sedan.
