Evacuation order lifted in Lebec

LEBEC, Calif. - UPDATE: The Kern County Fire Department said the cause of the Lebec Fire was a faulty catalytic converter from a passing vehicle.
The evacuation order for the Lebec fire has been lifted and the fire is now 80 percent contained.
Seven grass fires were burning in Lebec near the Fort Tejon exit north of Interstate 5.
Kern County Fire Department Spokesman Corey Wilford told 23ABC 50 homes in the Lebec area were evacuated Sunday evening. Residents forced to leave their homes were sent to Frazier Mountain High School.

As of 6 p.m. Sunday, the fires were 50 percent contained.
Wilford told 23ABC News that the fire got as close as 300 yards to one home. 300 acres were burned.
