CALIFORNIA CITY, Calif. - The California City Police Department arrested 20-year-old Rey Flores for attempted murder following a stabbing Friday night.
At 6:45 p.m., Officers were called to the 8000 block of Walpole Ave for a reported stabbing.
Officers found a male victim, laying in the street, suffering from 11 stab wounds. The victim was treated by California City Fire Department paramedics and airlifted to a local hospital in serious condition, officials said.
By Sunday, the victim was in stable condition.
According to witnesses, the suspect and the victim were initially involved in a verbal argument. The suspect knocked the victim to the ground then started repeatedly stabbing the victim, officials said.
Flores fled on foot as California City Police officers were arriving at the crime scene, officials said.
Officer located Flores at a nearby gas station and took him into custody without incident. Officers also recovered a bloodied knife nearby which is believed to be the weapon used in the attack, officials said.
Flores was booked into Kern County Jail for attempted murder. The case is being investigated by Sgt. Craig and Lt. Huizar.
