BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The local corrections officer accused of beating his girlfriend has been released from custody.

Alfred Hernandez pleaded not guilty Wednesday to three felony charges, including false imprisonment and domestic violence.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, Hernandez covered his girlfriend's face with a pillow and kept her from leaving after they got into an argument early Monday morning.

The victim, Sarah Delgado, said that at one point Hernandez choked her until she passed out.

Hernandez has been placed on paid administrative leave and has been ordered to stay away from her.
