California's Medical Board is supporting legislation to fight prescription drug abuse

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The board voted to support the legislation on Friday.
It would require coroners to report prescription drug overdose deaths to the board and give the panel more power to stop doctors from over prescribing their patients.
The board also voted to start a task force to develop guidelines for prescribing painkillers.
