BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Tents were pitched, hope was high, and the fight was on in the battle against cancer as hundreds turned up to help raise money for local cancer patients at the Campout Against Cancer event, Saturday at the State Farm Sports Village.
The event included a lively competition between 30 different teams in various events, including ziplining, rock climbing and much more.
Overall, the teams raised just over $140,000 and sponsors raised over $170,000 bringing the total to $327,641. The best part is that all of the money will help benefit the Kern County Cancer Fund, which helps local cancer patients directly.
The event started Friday and wrapped up at 9 p.m. on Saturday.
