BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Westbound lanes of SR-178 are closed after a fire was started by a car crash and a person was ejected, according to officials.
On June 17, at about 3:30 p.m., officers with the California Highway Patrol went to SR-178 just east of the Kern River callbox two, regarding a fire that was started when a car crashed.
When officials arrived to the hillside fire, they found a car on its side, that wasn't clearly visible because of trees.
Officials said one person was in the car and found ejected from the car on a pile of rocks.
USFS was called out to put out the fire. An air ambulance was sent to the scene to help hoist the victim up.
