BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A vehicle went off the side of Highway 178 into the Kern Canyon midday Wednesday.
According to California Highway Patrol reports, the driver declined medical aid.
The vehicle is 45-50 feet down the canyon.
A woman took the westbound curve too fast in the damp conditions, officials at the scene said.
The driver let go of the wheel, went over the edge and was stopped by a tree.
The woman had minor injuries and was transported to KMC. She was alone in her car.
Westbound lanes were closed.
