Two car crash erupts in flames, shuts down freeway

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - UPDATE: CHP officials say all lanes are back open at 8:45am.

A crash on the northbound Hwy 99 near White Lane just before 8 a.m. Wednesday ended with both cars in flames, and the California Highway Patrol shutting down the freeway during the morning commute.

CHP officer Robert Rodriquez confirmed the freeway was blocked by the wreckage and the CHP was shutting down the northbound lanes between Panama Lane and White Lane.

Rodriguez reports everyone got out of the cars safely, but it is unknown if there were any injuries.

Officers were able to open the slow lane by 8:15 a.m. There is no word on when the highway is expected to reopen completely.
