BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Two car washes will be held in Bakersfield this weekend to raise funds for a funeral of a man who was hit and killed by a car on Sunday.
On Saturday, Feb. 16, at 10:00 a.m., a car wash will be held at Honey Baked Ham on Ming Ave., for the victim, 21-year old Anthony Matthew Saldana.
Then, on Sunday, Feb. 17, at 10:00 a.m., a car wash is scheduled to be held at Brookeside Deli near Coffee and Hageman.
Saldana was a graduate of Highland High School in 2009.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Saldana was either walking or skateboarding in traffic lanes on Niles near Valencia Drive on Sunday, Feb. 10, at about 9:30 p.m.
Officials said at that time, a truck then struck the victim and drove away without stopping. Saldana died at the scene.
According to Rodriguez, debris found at the crime scene indicates the vehicle is a Chevrolet Colorado truck with a model year between 2004 - 2012.
