Carjacking suspect arrested by Wasco deputies

Suspect arrested on several charges

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. -  

A carjacking suspect was arrested by Wasco deputies Tuesday night.

On Nov. 26, Wasco Substation deputies investigated a Carjacking that happened in Wasco. 

The victim reported being carjacked and struck with a deadly weapon by 31-year-old Abel Rocha. 

Deputies tried to find Rocha and the stolen vehicle that evening, but Rocha had fled the area. 

On Nov. 27, deputies went to the 1000 block of 12th Street for follow-up investigation. 

When they arrived, Rocha fled from the rear of the property. 

Wasco deputies, along with assistance from deputies from the Delano Substation, the North Area Substation, and a Sheriff’s K-9 unit, found Rocha hiding in the 1000 block of 11th Street. 

Rocha was arrested on several charges, including two counts of carjacking, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon, kidnapping, criminal threats, and witness intimidation. 

The charges were the result of three different incidents that occurred within the past three days.
