The casting director for a new feature film was in Bakersfield early Saturday hoping to find the film's next big star.
"Heartless"--a film about the bonding between a father and his son after the tragic disappearance of the son's mother--is currently searching for an actor to play the role of the young boy.
The film focuses on family dynamics as the family hopes to move on from tragedy, while the son battles with childhood obesity.
Richard Hicks, the casting director, was in downtown Bakerfield watching dozens of auditions from local boys hoping to win the big part in the movie.
Hicks says they are looking for a boy between the ages of 8 and 12 years old, who also weighs anywhere from 150 to 300 or more pounds.
No acting experience is required. Whoever gets picked will be flown (along with a guardian) to the movie set and housed, and will also be provided with an on-set teacher to avoid missing any school. The actor would be paid for his work.
The shooting of the film is said to take place in August or September, and will most likely be set in the East Coast.
Although Hicks was only in town for audition on Saturday, any who are interested in the part are encouraged to send an e-mail to firstname.lastname@example.org with the following information:
- Current city
- Parent/Guardian name
- Phone Number
- E-mail address
- Photo of the boy
