BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Kern County Courthouse was filled with students Saturday as they pleaded their cases in a series of mock trials.
The team from Centennial High School came away as winners of the months-long competition organized by superintendents on schools around Kern County.
It is the second consecutive year that Centennial High has advanced to the state competition.
Seventeen high school teams competed in a mock murder trial to showcase their talents as aspiring attorneys.
The trials are judged on how well students presented their case as well as their argument for an actual, sitting judge.
