DELANO, Calif. - The Henrietta Weill Memorial Child Guidance clinic held its 3rd annual Holiday Shoe Drive at Payless in Delano, Thursday.
The clinic gave more than 100 students from Delano Elementary School the chance to pick and take home a pair of new shoes.
"The kids seems to love it. We partnered with Starbucks so they're all getting a free cup of hot cocoa, they get to visit with Santa and they get a free backpack," said Hortencia Venegas who works at the clinic.
26 percent of families in Delano live below the poverty level and many students go without proper shoes because of economic disadvantages.
