The first kiosk in the state to help incarcerated inmates speak directly to a child support professional is now at the Lerdo Correctional Facility.
The kiosk is now available due to a collaboration from the Kern County Department of Child Support Services and the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
Parents who are incarcerated will be able to utilize the co-located child support kiosk to speak directly with a child support professional regarding specific child support issues or concerns.
Officials said the goal of this partnership is to increase child support compliance, reduce barriers to employment and reduce recidivism rates among incarcerated parents.
