CHP: Man with knives threatens police in Bakersfield area

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A man armed with two knives was arrested after threatening police, officials said.

On Monday, July 29, local law enforcement went to Beardsley Avenue, near Plymouth Avenue, regarding a possible suicide situation.

When officers arrived, they said the man began threatening police.

The CHP initially reported a man with a loaded shotgun because the man was saying he had a gun. However, after the arrest and an investigation, the man was found with two knives only.

After a stand-off situation, the man surrendered and was arrested, peacefully.

There were no reports of injuries or street closures.
