CHP officer, police dog find $3 million worth of cocaine during traffic stop in Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - On Tuesday, July 15, around 9:40 a.m., a traffic stop was made by a CHP Central Division Canine Unit member on a vehicle that was speeding in a 55 mph zone.

The traffic stop occurred on northbound Highway 99 at Panama Lane in Bakersfield.

The officer said he observed indicators of criminal activity and searched the vehicle.

Officer Paxson and his police dog Duch were able to locate about 83 kilos of cocaine smuggled within the cab of the tractor.

Officer Paxson arrested the driver, 51-year-old Jee-Leung Tsoi  from Ontario, Canada.

The estimated street value of this seizure is $3 million.
