City of Bakersfield may need to borrow for road projects

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Westside Parkway opens to traffic for the first time this Friday and the Bakersfield City Council is already looking ahead to future roads projects.

The Californian reports that the city may need to borrow $270 million in order to finish several other local transportation projects.

Those projects include the Centennial Corridor, which would link the Westside Parkway to Highway 99, a new Highway 99 off-ramp at Hosking Road and the widening of Highway 178 from Morning Drive to Canteria Lane.
