City of Bakersfield teams up with local law enforcement to crack down on internet cafes

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Safe Neighborhoods and Community Relations committees met to discuss their next step in the fight against internet gambling cafes, Friday.
Three local internet cafes closed down after letters were sent out warning owners that they were being watched by the Bakersfield Police Department.
The next step for council members is get to lawmakers like assembly member Rudy Salas involved in the fight.
"I've approached Salas and asked his office to carry legislation to address this internet gambling problem with these I-cafes," said Council member Russell Johnson.
The city has also sent a letter of opposition to have a new bill designed to expand internet gambling across the state.
