DELANO, Calif. - Assemblymember Rudy Salas (D- Bakersfield) announced today that the City of Delano has been awarded a state grant of $800,000 to provide affordable housing opportunities.
“This program will not only help existing homeowners with repairs to their homes, but also help to attract new families to the City of Delano through mortgage assistance to first-time buyers,” Salas said.
The grant provides local control to the City of Delano to help provide repair assistance to low income homeowners and mortgage assistance to first-time, low-income homebuyers through the CalHome Program.
CalHome is a program run by the Department of Housing and Community Development. Its purpose is to enable low and very-low income households to become or remain homeowners.
Funding comes from Proposition 1C, and the money given to Delano will then be distributed to help low-income homeowners make repairs to their homes, or assist low-income first-time homebuyers.
