DELANO, Calif. - Delano officials are still looking for solutions after a fire destroyed a local senior center.
The seniors displaced by the fire have been temporarily relocated to a nearby center.
They plan to rebuild and improve the burned down center after an investigation is complete.
However, the project is slated to take two years to complete and other housing options in the meantime are being looked into. But Delano's mayor said the willingness to help has been encouraging.
"It's amazing how the city comes together very quickly," said Mayor Joe Aguirre. "That's a reputation Delano has; that's a reputation Kern County has whenever the need is there or needed. Everybody steps up."
He said the center was covered by insurance and that should help with the rebuilding.
