"Coffee with a cop" event for Oildale residents to exchange ideas and get to know officers

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Kern County Sheriff's Office is hosting a community discussion with Oildale residents Friday, March 7 from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. at the Covenant Coffee House located at 1700 North Chester.

The "Coffee with a cop" community discussion will be an opportunity for Oildale residents to meet members of the sheriff's office and share information or ideas to help improve the quality of life for the citizens of Oildale.

"We really don't know what's going on in a community unless community members are sharing information with us and talking to us," said Ray Pruitt, spokesman for the Kern County Sheriff's Office.
The meeting was put together after the Sheriff's office received multiple safety concerns from Oildale residents.
"Our job is to get to know the members of each community and work with them to identify what their concerns are what their needs are," Pruitt said.

Officials said that if this discussion is productive, future dates and locations will be considered.

"If the time spent out here does some good and is productive..We will look at having additional meetings here in Oildale and most likely other areas in the county," Pruitt said.
