BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Congressman David Valadao attended an event with a F-35 Lightning II interactive cockpit demonstrator on Wednesday at Kern Steel Fabrication, Inc. in Bakersfield.
Valadao spoke to attendees and "flew" the cockpit demonstrator.
During the event, Lockheed Martin and Kern Steel Fabrication, Inc. officials highlighted the F-35's role in protecting national security and the program's economic impact across the U.S. and within California.
The F-35 Lightning II has been an advanced military aircraft and for more than a decade, the U.S. and its allies have invested in developing this 5th generation, international, multi-role fighter aircraft.
Kern Steel Fabrication Inc. supplies turn-key work platform systems and support equipment for the assembly of the F-35 aircraft, including design solutions, fabrication and installation of work platforms for the wing assembly stations.
These modularized platforms supply workers with efficient and safe access to critical areas of the F-35 fighter aircraft during the assembly process.
The F-35 cockpit demonstrator simulates the fighter aircraft's advanced technologies and combat capabilities in an interactive environment.
