Kern County Coroner Sheriff Donny Youngblood said a 7-month-old girl was beaten to death.
Authorities said Eilena Navaeh Faith Roberts was found unresponsive at her home Nov. 30.
When Bakersfield police officers arrived they discovered family members giving CRP to the infant. Family members stated the child had been sick for several days when they discovered the baby was not breathing, officials said.
She was taken to Mercy Southwest Hospital - ER where she was pronounced dead.
Early indications at the hospital revealed some injuries to the child that appeared suspicious, officials said.
After completing a postmortem examination, Youngblood said the cause of death was determined to be blunt injuries and the manner of death is a homicide.
The investigation is continuing.
