FRESNO, Calif. - The coroner says alcohol killed an 18-year-old Fresno State freshman who was partying at a fraternity house.

Philip Dhanens had swelling of the brain due to acute alcohol consumption.

Coroner David Hadden said on Monday that Dhanen's' blood-alcohol level was 0.36 at the time of his death.

The Bakersfield teen was only a couple weeks into his first semester of college when he pledged with the Theta Chi fraternity.

He died after attending an Aug. 31 drinking party at the fraternity house off campus.
