BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A man accused of kidnapping, raping and attempting to kill his daughter appeared in court on Wednesday for his case hearing.
On July 27, officials said Ray Coriell reported his 8-year-old daughter was missing.
She was found six hours later in a field some ten miles away from her home.
In the reports, the girl stated she could not make out who kidnapped her or hurt her but did remember sleeping, someone taking her out of the house, grabbing her by the neck, and stuffing her under a couch.
The day after the kidnapping, Coriell was supposed to show up at the Sheriff's Office for a polygraph test, but instead, barricaded himself in his bedroom and sent his wife suicidal messages.
Coriell eventually surrendered to deputies after a long standoff.
