BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The daughter of Leslie Chance released a statement through her family's attorney about the investigation of the murder of Todd Chance, in what she called a tragedy for everyone involved.
In an emotionally written statement to the news media Tuesday--Jessica Bullman, daughter of Leslie Chance, told the public she's thankful for everyone's thoughts and prayers.
"We love our mom and dad, and can't even begin to comprehend what is happening to our family right now," Bullman said.
Officials from the Kern County Sheriff's Office said evidence shows Leslie Janea Chance shot Todd Chance to death.
Just days ago, Bullman's mother, Leslie Chance, was arrested for first-degree murder; KCSO’s prime suspect in her husband's death.
The District Attorney rejected the case, sending it back to sheriff's investigators for further review.
Correctional officials said Leslie Chance was released from the Lerdo Pre-trial facility at about 6:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The case left many parents who are close to the elementary school principal searching for answers.
A field worker found Chance's body on a dirt road near Noriega just east of Enos Lane August 25.

Leslie Chance was arrested August 29. Leslie Chance is the principal at Fairview Elementary School.
Todd Chance will be buried on Wednesday in Shafter.
Bullman, who expressed wishes for privacy in her statement, added "This is a tragedy for everyone involved. As we are grieving for the loss of our dad, we are also supporting our mother in this time of uncertainty."
