Daylight Saving Time is a good reminder to check smoke detectors, carbon monoxide alarms

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - With Daylight Savings Time quickly approaching this Sunday, March 9, the Kern County Fire Department would like to remind all residents to change the batteries in all smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms around your home.

In addition to changing the batteries, be sure to test your smoke detectors and carbon monoxide alarms for proper operation. Using a vacuum hose to clean out the dust will also help keep your detectors in top working condition.
