Deadlines approaching for health care enrollment, questions answered at event

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Kern County Department of Human Services is helping everyone stay healthy by providing information on the healthcare options available through Covered California Saturday, March 8.

Families or individuals wanting to learn more about their options for health care coverage can have their questions answered in person at CSUB Icardo Center at 1 p.m. for the women's final regular season basketball game.

Open enrollment closes on March 31, and once open enrollment closes your chance to enroll with Covered California will not open again until October 2014. Officials say those who have not enrolled in a health plan may face penalties.

You can get help over the phone by calling 1(800) 300-1506, and hours are expanding for the month of March. Beginning Saturday, March 15, Covered California can be reached by phone from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. seven days a week.
