A Lake Isabella mother and her live-in boyfriend are facing several charges after her 14-month-old child died early Saturday morning.

Deputies with the Kern County Sheriff's Office said that just after 2 a.m., deputies got a call about a child who wasn't breathing in Lake Isabella.

Deputies started CPR until an ambulance got to the home. The baby, 1-year-old Sophialynn Marie Taylor, was taken to Kern Valley Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

KCSO Coroner Donny Youngblood said the cause of death was blunt force trauma and the manner is homicide.

Amanda Marie Reese, 22, was charged with felony child abuse.

Her boyfriend, Jared Ramirez, 24, is facing charges of murder and child abuse resulting in the death of a child.

Reese and Ramirez have been booked in Kern County Jail and are due in court on Tuesday.
