Delano opens brand new technology center for students to use free of charge

Students in Delano have free access to technology

DELANO, Calif. - On Friday Delano city leaders opened the Leonard T. Velasco Technology Center.

The center was named after Delano's first Filipino mayor. Leonard Velasco served on the city council for 24 years and on Friday his family was there to accept the honor.

The technology center offers free wi-fi, 46 computers, and several lounge areas.

City leaders said it is federally funded and called it an investment in Delano's future.

Officials said the center will help close the digital divide that exists in the central valley.
