DELANO, Calif. - Delano school officials say they are on a code green status both in the high school district and the elementary school district.
This is a level below an actual lockdown.
In a code green, access is restricted to the campuses.
It started with a report of a threat on social media that was relayed to officials in the elementary school district.
The threat was of some sort of gang violence or shooting at a school site. The threat has not been verified by the districts or police.
To confuse matters further a 33-year-old student was shot in a rural part of Tulare County. It is not known if there is any connection to the threat that triggered the code green and the shooting.
The code green was already in effect at the time of the shooting. Official say the code green was just a precaution.
