BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Bakersfield Democratic headquarters boomed with cheers and chants as supporters found out on the big screen television that President Obama won the election.
Children posed with cardboard cutouts of the President and First Lady while adults shook hands, hugged and chanted "Si se quede!"
Bakersfield City School District Board President Bill McDougle tells 23 ABC "I expected to sit around and wait until 11 o'clock for the announcement because it was such a close race. Boy was I surprised!"
Now the wait is on for other candidates and the numbers trickle in.
23 ABC will have reaction from candidates at 11 p.m.
