LEBEC OAKS - The Kern County Sheriff’s Office Incident Review Board convened Monday to consider the use of force by a deputy in relation to a shooting on May 24.
Deputy Rogelio Medina shot at a suspect of a domestic dispute when the suspect pulled a knife, according to a press release from KCSO at the time.
The man was pronounced dead at the scene.
After a review of all the facts in this case, the Incident Review Board determined that the use of force by Medina was within Sheriff’s Office policy.
The Incident Review Board consisted of Chief Deputy Kevin Zimmermann, Chief Deputy Brian Wheeler, Chief Deputy Shelly Castaneda, and Commander Tim Melanson.
