BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Retired truck driver James Shockley shepherds hundreds across Old Farm Road every day, but he's not your average crossing guard.
Shockley knows nearly every child's name that walks across his street and he greets every last person with a wave and a smile.
Not only does he make sure students safely cross the street, he teaches them to overcome obstacles by leading by example.
The father of seven lost his left leg 35 years ago during a traumatic accident but it has never slowed down his ambition.
Shockley says he loves working and interacting with his pint-sized clientele so much that he plans on never retiring.
