BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - A new report on child poverty in Kern County shows a discouraging trend.

The report found one-third of Kern County children are living below the poverty line.

That's the 6th highest total in the state.

And the number of impoverished children has increased by more than 18 percent since 2008.

The findings are from a San Francisco based group called 'The Center for the Next Generation.'
