The only women's shelter on the west side of Kern County is in danger of closing.
The Alpha House has been serving women in crisis for more than 20 years in Taft.
They run entirely on donations, but recently those donations have been getting thin.
Officials at the house say they have less than 30 days worth of operating funds on hand right now.
They said without monetary help from the community they will be forced to close their doors.
They said the need for a women's shelter on the west side is obvious.
Alpha House officials said they helped more than 75 families last year. But because of size and money, they were forced to turn away over 110 more families.
